Saint Illtud was a Welsh abbot of the sixth century, founder and head of the monastery of Cor Tewdws at what is now Llantwit Major, dying around the year 540. His monastery became one of the most significant centers of learning and monastic formation in early Britain, and several other Welsh saints trained there under his direction.
