About
A small offering from a Catholic couple in Malaysia.
Who We Are
We are a married couple living in Malaysia. We are not theologians, priests or publishers. We are two Catholics who kept finding that the prayers and answers we were looking for were scattered across a dozen sites, buried in adverts, or written in language that assumed you already knew the answer.
So we started building this instead. Catholic Repository is our small contribution to the faith that has carried us – a place where anyone can find a prayer, or an honest answer to a hard question, without paying, signing up, or being sold anything.
What Is Here
The library is growing steadily. As it stands today:
- Over 300 prayers – the daily prayers, the great Latin prayers with translations, novenas, litanies, chaplets, prayers for the sick and the dying, and prayers for particular needs and particular saints.
- Answers about Church teaching – the questions Catholics and non-Catholics actually ask, from what happens at Mass to what the Church teaches about suffering, death and mercy, each written in plain English with the relevant paragraphs of the Catechism.
- More to come – the saints section now covers thousands of individual profiles, and the devotions section is complete; Scripture, a fuller library of Church documents, and expanded core doctrine are still being built.
How We Work
A few commitments that shape everything on this site.
Plain English, always
Church teaching is often precise rather than complicated, and the precision is usually what gets lost in translation. We try to say what the Church actually teaches, in words an ordinary person can follow, without softening it and without pretending the hard parts are easy.
We tell you where it comes from
Where a page explains Church teaching, it cites the paragraphs of the Catechism it rests on and links to the official text on the Vatican website, so you never have to take our word for it. If we have understood something wrongly, we would rather you could check.
We respect copyright
Many Catholic texts are still in copyright – the Catechism, current liturgical translations, and prayers written by living authors or religious communities. Where that is the case we summarise and point you to the official source rather than reproducing the text. It makes some pages shorter than we would like, but it is the right way to do it.
Free, and quiet
Everything here is free to read. There is no account to create and no newsletter you have to join to see a prayer. If this site ever carries advertising, we will keep it away from the pages people come to in grief.
What This Site Is Not
This is a private lay initiative. It is not an official publication of the Catholic Church, of the Holy See, or of any diocese, parish or religious order, and it carries no imprimatur or nihil obstat. Nothing here is spiritual direction, pastoral care, or a substitute for the sacraments, and nothing here is legal, medical, financial or psychological advice. Several pages touch on grave matters – illness, dying, grief, mental health, marriage. They describe what the Church teaches; they are not professional guidance and must not be relied on as such. Where anything on this site differs from the official texts of the Church, the official texts govern. We write carefully and cite our sources, but we are two lay people and we can be wrong.
The site is offered free and as it stands, without warranty of any kind, and to the fullest extent permitted by law we accept no liability for any loss or damage arising from the use of, or reliance on, anything published here or linked from here. Your use of this site is subject to our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy, which form part of this statement.
Nothing here replaces your parish, your priest, or the sacraments. If you are facing a serious decision – about marriage, about a death, about your own soul – please talk to a priest. A website cannot absolve you, anoint you, or sit with you. If you are in crisis, please contact a crisis line in your country or someone near you today.
If you believe a page is inaccurate, or that it uses material you hold the rights to, tell us and we will correct or remove it promptly. We would rather be corrected than be wrong.
Corrections and Contact
We would genuinely rather be corrected than be wrong. If you spot an error of fact, a mistranslation, a broken link, or a page that reads unkindly where it should not, please tell us. Use the contact page and we will look at it.
And if the site has been useful to you, a prayer for the two of us would be welcome.
