Check your country before planning Mass

The date of a celebration and the obligation to attend Mass are different questions. Some solemnities move to Sunday; others remain on a weekday without a local obligation. See the 2027 country comparison and confirm your parish timetable.

Three details that are easy to miss

  • The Annunciation is celebrated on 5 April in 2027 because 25 March falls in Holy Week.
  • Ascension is on Thursday 6 May where it is not transferred, and Sunday 9 May where it is transferred.
  • The 2027 liturgical year begins with Advent on 29 November 2026; the next liturgical year begins on 28 November 2027.

Use the year for prayer

During Lent, make a realistic plan for prayer, fasting and almsgiving. During Easter, return to the resurrection accounts. Advent is a season of preparation and hope: our Advent 2026 guide includes simple family prayers for the approaching season.

For every day’s readings, ranks, colours and local celebrations, use your bishops’ conference or diocesan calendar. Parish patronal feasts and dedications can add local celebrations not shown here.
