Prayer for the Sick
Prayers for Special Intentions
For all who are suffering in body, mind, or spirit.
The Catholic Church has always had a special care for the sick, following Christ’s own ministry of healing. This prayer intercedes for all who are ill, asking God for healing, strength, peace, and comfort for the caregivers who serve them.
The Prayer
Heavenly Father, we lift up to You all those who are suffering in body, mind, or spirit. Touch them with Your healing grace. Give them strength to endure their suffering, peace in their hearts, and hope in Your promised mercy. Comfort all who care for them. We ask this through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who by His own suffering has sanctified ours. Amen.
About This Prayer
Christ healed the sick throughout His ministry as a sign of the Kingdom of God. The Church continues this mission through the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick, hospital chaplaincy, and prayer. The Church teaches that suffering, united to Christ’s Passion, can become redemptive — this is the profound mystery at the heart of Catholic spirituality.
