Prayer of the Miraculous Medal
Marian Prayers
Given by Our Lady to St. Catherine Labouré, Paris, 1830.
The Prayer of the Miraculous Medal was given by the Blessed Virgin Mary to St. Catherine Labouré, a Daughter of Charity, during an apparition on November 27, 1830, in Paris. Our Lady instructed that a medal be struck bearing this prayer and promised great graces to those who wore it with confidence.
The Prayer
O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee.
About This Prayer
The Miraculous Medal was first struck in 1832 following the apparitions to St. Catherine Labouré. Millions of medals have been distributed worldwide. The prayer on the medal expresses the Immaculate Conception — a truth defined as dogma by Pope Pius IX in 1854 — and invokes Mary’s intercession for all who turn to her.
