The Litany of Trust
Litanies
Sr. Faustina Maria Pia, S.V.
A modern litany that names the lies we believe, and renounces them.
Written by Sr. Faustina Maria Pia of the Sisters of Life, the Litany of Trust has spread through the English-speaking Catholic world in barely a decade. Its structure is unusual: the first half asks deliverance from specific false beliefs — that God’s love must be earned, that suffering has no purpose — and the second half asks for trust in their place.
Why It Resonates
Most litanies name the attributes of God or a saint. This one names the interior lies a person actually lives by: the belief that you must fix everything yourself, that you are beyond healing, that God will not provide. Then, line by line, it hands each of them over. People who find traditional litanies hard to pray often find this one describes their own head with uncomfortable accuracy.
