For adoration and Benediction

The Eucharist named under forty titles.

A litany for time before the Blessed Sacrament, naming the Eucharist under the titles Scripture and tradition give it: living bread, chalice of blessing, hidden manna, memorial of the Lord’s Passion. It is a private devotion, prayed widely at adoration.

The Litany

Lord, have mercy. — Lord, have mercy.
Christ, have mercy. — Christ, have mercy.

Christ, hear us. — Christ, graciously hear us.

God the Father of heaven, — have mercy on us.
God the Son, Redeemer of the world, — have mercy on us.
God the Holy Spirit, — have mercy on us.
Holy Trinity, one God, — have mercy on us.

To each of the following invocations, respond: have mercy on us.

Living Bread, that came down from heaven,
Hidden God and Saviour,
Corn of the elect,
Wine springing forth virgins,

The Closing Prayer

O God, who under a wonderful Sacrament
have left us a memorial of Your Passion:
grant us, we beseech You,
so to venerate the sacred mysteries of Your Body and Blood
that we may ever feel within ourselves the fruit of Your redemption.
Who live and reign for ever and ever. Amen.
