Saint Leonardo da Porto Maurizio was an Italian Franciscan priest of the Observant reform known for his extensive missionary preaching across Italy and for popularizing the devotion of the Stations of the Cross, which he personally established in hundreds of churches, most famously erecting the Stations at the Colosseum in Rome. He died in Rome in 1751 at about seventy-four years old and was canonized in 1867.
