Catholic Repository (“we”, “us”) is a personal website run by a private individual couple based in Malaysia. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit catholic-repository.org, why we collect it, and what rights you have. We have tried to write it in plain language rather than legal boilerplate.

The short version: you can read every page on this site without giving us anything. We collect anonymous statistics about how the site is used, and we only hold personal information you deliberately send us.

Information We Collect

Information you give us

  • Contact form. If you write to us, we receive your name, email address and message. We use it to reply to you and for nothing else.
  • Donations. If you make a donation, our donation software collects the details needed to process it. Card details are handled entirely by our payment processor and never reach our servers or our eyes.

Information collected automatically

  • Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are read and how people find the site. It records things like approximate location by country, device type, browser, referring site and pages viewed. We use it to decide what to build next.
  • Server logs. Our hosting provider records standard technical information including IP addresses, for security and diagnostics.
  • Advertising. If and when this site carries advertising, advertising partners such as Google may set cookies to serve and measure adverts. This section will be updated with specifics before any advertising goes live.

Cookies

Cookies are small files stored by your browser. This site uses them for analytics, for caching pages so they load faster, and for the donation process. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. Blocking them will not stop you reading anything on this site.

How We Use Your Information

We use it only to reply to your messages, to process donations, to keep the site secure and working, and to understand in aggregate what readers find useful. We do not build profiles of individual readers.

What We Never Do

  • We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information to anyone.
  • We do not send marketing email to people who have not asked for it.
  • We do not share your messages with third parties, except where we are legally required to.
  • We do not track what you pray for, or link prayers you read to your identity.

Who We Share Information With

We share only what is necessary with the services that make the site work: our hosting provider, Google Analytics, our email provider, our payment processor for donations, and our spam filter for form submissions. Each processes data under its own privacy terms. Some of these providers are based outside Malaysia, which means information may be transferred and stored internationally.

How Long We Keep It

Contact form messages are kept while the conversation is useful and deleted when it is not. Donation records are kept as long as required for accounting and tax. Analytics data is retained according to Google’s default retention period.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, or to object to how we use it. This includes rights under Malaysia’s Personal Data Protection Act 2010, and, for visitors in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, under the General Data Protection Regulation.

To exercise any of these, write to us through the contact page. We will do our best to respond promptly. In practice, for most readers, we hold nothing about you at all.

Children

This site is intended for a general audience and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We will update this page when our practices change – in particular before we introduce advertising or an email newsletter. The date at the top always shows when it was last revised.
