Act of Consecration to the Immaculate Heart

Marian Prayers

The request of Fatima

What Our Lady asked for at Fatima, made personal.

At Fatima in 1917, Our Lady asked for the consecration of Russia to her Immaculate Heart and for the devotion of the Five First Saturdays. Popes have made that consecration for the world; this act makes it personal, and is often renewed on 22 August, the feast of the Queenship of Mary.

The Prayer

O Immaculate Heart of Mary, Queen of heaven and earth,
and tender Mother of all,
in accordance with your ardent wish
made known at Fatima,
I consecrate to you myself, my family,
and all that I have.

To you I entrust my body and soul,
my thoughts, words and deeds,
my joys and my sufferings,
and the hour of my death.

Make of me what you will,
and lead me where you will,
that through your Immaculate Heart
I may belong wholly and forever
to your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen.

The Five First Saturdays

Our Lady asked that on the first Saturday of five consecutive months the faithful go to Confession, receive Communion, pray five decades of the Rosary, and keep her company for fifteen minutes meditating on the mysteries — all in reparation for offences against her Immaculate Heart.

About This Prayer

The Immaculate Heart is not a rival devotion to the Sacred Heart but its natural companion: the heart of the Mother pointing always to the Heart of the Son. Every apparition-approved Marian devotion has the same structure — she asks for prayer, penance and conversion, and then steps out of the way.
