The Divine Praises
Prayers for Confession & Mass
Prayed after Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament.
The Divine Praises are a series of blessings of God, the Holy Trinity, the Blessed Sacrament, the Virgin Mary, and St. Joseph, traditionally prayed after Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament in reparation for blasphemy and profanity.
The Prayer
Blessed be God. Blessed be His Holy Name. Blessed be Jesus Christ, true God and true Man. Blessed be the Name of Jesus. Blessed be His Most Sacred Heart. Blessed be His Most Precious Blood. Blessed be Jesus in the Most Holy Sacrament of the Altar. Blessed be the Holy Spirit, the Paraclete. Blessed be the great Mother of God, Mary most holy. Blessed be her holy and Immaculate Conception. Blessed be her glorious Assumption. Blessed be the name of Mary, Virgin and Mother. Blessed be St. Joseph, her most chaste spouse. Blessed be God in His angels and in His saints.
About This Prayer
The Divine Praises were composed by Fr. Luigi Felici, S.J., in 1797, originally as a prayer of reparation for blasphemy. They were approved by Pope Pius VI and are prayed at the close of Benediction, the devotional ceremony in which the Blessed Sacrament is displayed in a monstrance and the faithful are blessed with it.
